About Gealach Mor Kennel

If you’re reading this blog, then there’s a very good chance you’ve read our website – after all, how else would you get here?

However, on the off chance that you either have already forgotten all about us from our website or you’ve just meandered on over from some other WordPress blog – here’s a quick summary.
We are Peter & Joyce Duncan, we used to live just south of Edinburgh in Scotland. We are home to 27 Siberian huskies and one German Shepherd dog. I feed, care for, scoop for, train and run the dogs. My wife works to feed me and the dogs, loves the dogs and allows more of them to live in the house than ever intended.

However, in the summer of 2009 we moved ourselves and all our dogs over to Alaska. The prospect of longer trails, better (dogsledding) weather and a plethora of 200 – 300 mile races are what drew us.

We also own a property in the Highlands of Scotland, in the Moray Region, an area that has become known as Little Alaska, due to the number of sled dog teams moving into the area. This is in part, due to the fantastic relationship Moray Sleddog Group has with local Forestry Commission Scotland office, which has enabled access to several excellent trails and has facilitated quad training for those who wish to do so. The other factor is the weather, we’re close to the North Sea with it’s cooling effects from Scandinavia and high enough that if there’s going to be reliable snow, there’s a more than fair chance, we’ll be close to it.
