As soon as it was confirmed for definite that we were headed to Alaska, we knew that we would realistically need to add dogs to our kennel. In the UK, 6 dogs is considered a big team, and there are only a couple of races in the whole country that has an 8 dog class. With that in mind, we have always considered how many dogs we can have, because we do keep all our dogs for life, good workers and bad, retired and house dogs too.
We came to Alaska with 16 dogs – there’s Ciobair, our German Shepherd, 3 retired/house dogs and 2 retired/yard dogs. So, that means we have only 10 working dogs. So, in the spring, we responded to several adverts and eventually bought ourselves some experienced adults, as well as the 2 pups I bought from NH.
The first of those adults arrived safely here late last week, courtesy of Alaska Airlines.

Oooh. Like the looks of Miss Mermaid
